  • As Public Affairs Manager for New Zealand Cricket managing high profile media issues attracting international media attention including:

    • A high profile players strike by the Blackcaps

    • Controversy over a tour to Zimbabwe by the Blackcaps with strong opposition from the Government (one of the biggest media stories in New Zealand that year)

    • Serious player behaviour and misconduct issues 

    • A controversial decision to forfeit a World Cup match in Kenya after a threat of terrorism 

    • The postponing of a Blackcaps tour to Pakistan after a terror threat

  • For the Ministry of Health, I managed Christchurch Earthquake communications, assisting the Canterbury District Health Board - traveling from Wellington to Christchurch immediately following the earthquake

  • In health consulting on large scale cyber privacy breach responses

  • Working for the Department of Conservation in the aftermath of Cave Creek Tragedy where I was based on the West Coast and tasked with rebuilding relationships and credibility with the local community.

    • Other work for the Department of Conservation included high profile media management around:

      • Arson threats to the World-famous White Heron colony in response to Government conservation policies

      • International media attention following the killing of 30 endangered Kea in Fox Glacier 

      • National media attention following alleged mishandling of1080 poison by the department 

  • Issues management for the Canterbury District Health Board during large scale strikes by doctors and nurses, leading to major health sector disruption.

  • As Executive Director Communications at Southern DHB I managed numerous media issues including:

    • High profile systematic errors impacting patients and subsequent findings against the DHB

    • System outages and their impact on patients 

    • Large scale financial losses and budget blowouts 

  • As a freelance journalist I covered :

    • The Christchurch terror attacks as a contracted correspondent to the National and then later contributing to stories in the Washington Post 

    • The Syrian refugee crisis during the Civil War in Syria in three trips visiting the Jordanian, Turkish and Lebanese borders 

    • The work of the Free Burma Rangers in the war in Myanmar from South East Asia
